Memento Mori is Latin for “remember, you too will die”. It was a common inscription on crusader swords, and a name used for medieval death talismans.
The purpose of which is a reverse version of “yolo”. While yolo is an embrace of hedonism, Memento Mori is a caution both to be careful with the one precious life you have, and a reminder that you are going to die no matter what. So when it looks to be your time, meet death with courage and dignity.
