Really, this is the most sensible view.

There was no "America" when people like the Cherokee, Sioux, Navaho, etc., ruled these lands. America was invented by whites, and whites were the only citizens of the nation until overturned by mandate 100+ years later. Indians might be native to their reservation or tribe, but the only race native to America is white.

And, of course, besides racial categorization - if you were born to America, spent your whole life as American, are not part of some foreign enclave or subculture, it seems like there's a strong argument to be made for you being native.
