They want to be.

That wasn't the question. If you have a dog, do you consider them family?

[–] 0 pt

The question proposed was, 'Are dogs "family"?'

Dogs are tools. Some people just don't know how to use them as such. Tools are property.

Eh.

I don’t love my hammer.

I don’t want to exaggerate the importance of animals, and I don’t even think they have souls, but I also don’t want to underplay their importance or significance either. They are more than just tools. They do have feelings and they can offer companionship, which mere possessions cannot.

It doesn’t mean the world to my hammer to curl up on my bed when I’m sick. My hammer don’t give a shit. My cats do, and my dog too. They give me attention when I’m not feeling well. Whenever the chemo gets rough especially.

My wife doesn’t like the animals in our bed, but it’s OK when I’m sick. I’m not looking to a hammer for that.

Does a hammer have a soul?

As much as I consider my car family.

Yes, but they don't replace kids.

[–] 2 pts

No. They are dogs. Companion, tool, larder. Not family.

I hope you don't have any dogs.

I will when I need them. Right now I don't need them so I don't have them.

Dogs are actually the one and only creator god. In a myriad of forms god comes to test our humanity, offering love and companionship, and judging us by our response. As you do unto the least of me....

Yes, and my doggy, and the rest of my family, agrees. If, for some reason, I would be temporarily unable to take care of my doggy, she would be more than welcome in either of my sons' homes. And a couple neighbors'. Probably even my sons' dad's home.

are you writing the dog into your will, faggot?

Oh, let him enjoy his dog. But that’s goddamn hilarious, you son of a bitch. It was just so unnecessarily mean that I laughed out loud. I needed that.

Yes,they also have a clear advantage: if ever the great 'Apocalypse' happens, they(dogs) can be substituted for food.

My dog is family. He trusts me and I trust him. He would die for me, and I think I would die for him, if it came to that. I know one thing, if some cop shot him for no reason, I wouldn't be responsible for my reaction.

I’m glad you love your dog. But don’t die for your dog. It’s a dog. I love my dog. But he’s a dog. Have some kids. You’ll see.

Yes. My dog is like one of my kids. She is very loyal and protective of all of us, and when not in protective mode, always looking for love from everybody. She adds a lot of happiness to our lives, she knows the rules of the house and follows them.

Everything has a meaning as much as you give it.
