I've watched and read some flat earth stuff. They actually have a few interesting points like flight times. My life experience leads me to disagree with the over all conclusion (though almost nothing would surprise me at this point), but they should be allowed to speak.
What is the flight times point?
Flight times don't seem to line up with distances assuming a round earth. Specifically to south america from the old world.
Would have to see the math used. As a side note, I'm a pilot and accurate distance is critical to safe flights.
Planes measure available safe flight distance (great circle distance) based on consumption per hour. To know the duration, you have to know your speed and distance. You then use this to calculate the minimum required fuel plus FAA mandatory reserves. This in turn effects weight.
Carrying extra weight in fuel means wasted money on the weight (as it changes your angle of attack). If anything odd were going on here, it would require all pilots and airlines be involved in a conspiracy.
What life experiences?
