There's no denying that the standards were higher then. My argument with the retard in this thread was simply that people didn't walk around in starched Sunday-wear everywhere they went and not even ironed shirts. That assumes blue collar -- which many more people were then -- and I'm sure ad execs had different standards yet.
I'm certain the retard was basing his opinions on pictures from the era which are going to have a selection bias towards people who would spend their money on a camera and would thus be less likely to be a farmer or the mechanic in a local town.
If I'm honest, I'm pretty sure the entire thing was just an opportunity for the retard to tell everyone how thin and fit he is.
