Because we let them. Because breaking the law in order to punishment criminals that our justice system intentionally ignores would play into the narrative that we are violent bloodthirsty monsters. Because if we tried to do anything at all besides post things on websites only a select few would even know about, let alone visit, we might be joined by federal infiltrators, and we can't take the risk of that, better to just let the government imprison, enslave, and kill us.
