Swine flu outbreak in the 70s. People don't remember that apparently. Tens of millions of people got vaccinated for an epidemic where there was literally one death, that never actually turned into an outbreak. I forget exactly what disease the vaccine caused, but it was something pretty serious; paralysis and stuff like that. It was a pretty huge deal. Nobody ever seems to know what I am talking about though.
