Would they use sharpened swords in sword fights? Would they use real hand grenades in battle scenes?

Can't you see this was a hit, Baldwin is CIA and just took out the wife of the dude that helped the Clintons...all in plain sight.

[–] 13 pts

Surely there were more discreet ways to take out some noname Hollywood drone than this. The Clintons have been wasting people left and right for the past 30 years. This is getting international attention, never good for a hit.

[–] 12 pts

It was a warning. It needed to be discreet, but visible to the right people.

[–] 2 pts

Obviously this was setup by agent 47.

There getting cocky and showing off

[–] 0 pt

There is a reason why we know about all these murders, why they are generally obvious. Power.

It shows power to be able to obviously murder people and keep getting away with it. It shows Power. It signals to everyone that they are not to be interfered with.

I think something went wrong and they had to come up with a story. Normally she would have been found dead from "suicide."

[–] 4 pts

Peculiar that they get rid of her despite helping the biggest assassin in the world. Maybe it would make more sense if she knew too much and they needed to Clinton her.

[–] 2 pts

That's not peculiar at all. She knew something and her husband is under investigation. Loose end tied.

[–] 4 pts

Nothing to do with union workers leaving due to safety issues and a scab making a mistake.

[–] [deleted] 3 pts

That's most likely the sanest answer, but I'm still perplexed at why real firearms are anywhere near a film set.

[–] -1 pt

Oh man Baldwin is Q! He got fed up and is going rogue! /s

[–] 13 pts

They dont. I know people who do REAL old west gun fights in old ghost towns. They all use old black powder arms loaded blanked. Obviously none of it close range because it still would kill you.

They have done this for decades with NO accidents.

I have to assume that Hollywood could do better than a local club of wanna be cowboys.

This in addition to how in the cases in which any real danger is present (real explosions / fire / dangerous machinery / etc. ) there is ALWAYS a full emergency crew on set. Which means an amberlamps and a number of fire fighters if relevant.

[–] 3 pts

I remember seeing one of those when I was a kid and being impressed that real smoke came out of the barrel.

Wasn't there some kind of legislation or workplace safety rule introduced after Brandon Lee was killed? To prevent such accidents from happening in the future?

Here's how I would run it: all prop guns must be examined by three different, qualified individuals before being handed directly to the actor. Each inspector would inspect the weapon, the blanks, fire a few test rounds, then sign off. This extreme redundancy appears to be necessary, given that this happened again. And accidents may still happen, but with that level of inspection, I think I would feel safe.

[–] 2 pts

I read earlier that a bunch of staff walked off set before the shooting because of the lack of safety protocol. I don't know how true that is.

[–] 3 pts

Seems to be true, but it happened hours prior, and non-union workers were brought in.

Which might explain things.

[–] [deleted] 6 pts

that's what I axed. It's what happened to Brendan Lee as well.

[–] 2 pts

Watch the movie "Game of Death". It wasn't an accident.

[–] 1 pt

Ou.. Ou.. I know what happened.

Bullets. They got the ignitor, the Tube, The Gunpowder amd thr lead at the tip. The ignitor explodes the Gun Powder, the gun Powder Shoots Out The lead and thr tube falls off.

Blanks Are the same ignitor, tube and gun powder.. But now lead.

So they explode, the tube falls out but there is no lead.

In the Crow, they had a prop Bullet.

Ignitor, tube, lead.. But No Gunpowder.

The Lead got stuck in the Chamber.

They shot the blank, but there Waa lead From the prop bullet before.

So the Gunpowder Was enough to shoot out the stuck led Bullet. Which i believe ricochet before hitting Brandon Lee in the back of the neck.

[–] 4 pts

This is purely conjecture but I'm thinking that there was probably a squib load, i.e. a bullet lodged inside the barrel from an earlier squib fire for a scene using live ammunition. Then it was loaded with blank ammo and some moron probably forgot to check if there was any bore obstruction. Then Baldwin ended up discharging the firearm with the squib bullet still lodged inside, and the pressure from the discharged blank round would have been enough to propel the bullet lodged inside the barrel at sufficient velocity. So TL,DR: I believe it was sheer liberal incompetence that lead to this event.

[–] 2 pts

But why would there ever be a need for live fire on a movie set? You can get a realistic muzzle flash from a blank which is all you need for a movie.

[–] 1 pt

There are instances when live ammunition is used on movie sets. For example, when you want to shoot a scene involving some kind of ballistic impact on some type of target.

[–] 2 pts

doesn't using weapons for this purpose go against every gun safety rule

[–] 1 pt

Why use an inaccurate pistol for that purpose when a rifle on a stand can be set up by trained professionals for carefully controlled targeting?

[–] 0 pt

It still don't explain why Baldwin was aiming and shooting at the crew members. That was never in the script.

[–] 3 pts

Because it was intentional. Seriously. "Accidents" like that don't happen. I know crew that were there on the Brandon Lee set. Not an accident.

[–] 1 pt

I know People From the pentagon and thru cam confirm that i am right amd you are wrong.

[–] 0 pt

Learn to fucking spell cunt. Also, I've worked on film sets twenty plus years. Not sure what your Pentagon sources say or what that has to do with a set. Also, my family WORKS at the Pentagon with a higher security clearance than the President and was the NK liaison for more than a decade.

[–] 2 pts

They were in New Mexico. Everyone has guns in New Mexico.

[–] 0 pt

I'm guessing that someone put their gun down to open a tin of beans. When they turned around, the gun had been taken as a prop.

[–] 3 pts

Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. Either that or someone accidentally bought a box of real bullets instead of blanks and the 24-year old woman in charge of loading the guns couldn't tell the difference.

[–] 2 pts

Is OSHA going to investigate this workplace death?

[–] 2 pts

They were range shooting on the side. When you hire people for every reason except being good at their jobs, this is the kind of stuff that happens.

[–] 1 pt

.....because Fuck You that's why!

[–] 0 pt

No bullet is loaded into a firearm without intentionally being placed there.
