It appears the big candidates are Sirius (in leaning this direction), Orion or Zeta Reticuli. They came to Gaia to establish a colony. Anu was sort of an asshole though and Enlil didn't fall far from the tree. If it wasn't for Enki, we wouldn't be conscious in this state or maybe even "alive" at all. From Enki, all "modern" Man was created, human. The translations aren't accurate though. We weren't "created in God's image." it should be more like "with God-like attributes."
Enki was "The Serpent" in the Garden, the first colony. He got booted (along with his followers/"human pets", who he cared for dearly) for insurrection (teaching the play things Knowledge). The worker golems in use in the colony were also growing weary and suspicious. Enki communicated Anu wasn't really "God" but just an asshole that was using/farming the golems like crops. Thanks to Enki, they were animated/(ill)luminated, touched by the God(s) and ordained keepers of this plane(t).
Anu eventually got annoyed and fucked off, but Enlil and Enki stayed behind. They're still here, still clashing. If we don't shape up, it might be time to learn to swim... once again. Enki probably didn't want to do it last time, but he knew it had to be done.
