These events always serve more than one purpose.
My guess is it's for the following reasons, at least ...
- Further collapse supply chains (tip: grow your own food)
- Explanation for an increase in cancer/death ("it's the PVC bomb, not the vax!")
- Fear and division (hate your neighbor because "it was totally the [insert partisan affiliation here]'s fault!")
