It's kind of an art form to insert glimpses of ones power level into conversation to gauge reaction. Results are mixed but sometimes surprising in a positive way. It is a good habit to have in order to find out who is your enemy and who is cool. I try to do that as much as I can without fucking myself over. What I don't do is walk on egg shells just to placate someone, especially for subjects I feel strongly about.
