Travel on itself is not bad, but the atmosphere of obligation and the "its never enough" culture of collecting "experiences" drastically cheapens it. Tourism on itself is a consumerist activity; no one in the past visited a place "just because", they had something to do there and just enjoyed a few more days of the trip to visit iconic places, even if its far, but much closer than home.
