I know how to replace them. I'm just wondering what are some better brands of pads and rotors. I don't necessarily need to replace the rear, but I figured since I'm doing the front I might as well do the rear too.

2013 Silverado 1500 5.3L; Front Disc, Rear Drums

Is that a good brand? Good price? Do you know of a better site/brand with comparable prices?

Are you hauling? Brakes are one of those things you ought not skimp on imo. Tbh, I'm sure you can get by with off brand ceramic or semi metallics but it's all based on what your needs are and what you're planning on doing with em. If you're going to keep the truck and haul I'd be making sure drums and/or rotors are up to par. Parts look to be alright. I get my stuff from O'Reilly's and their name brand stuff has always been decent. Again, just depends on what you're planning on doing. Also keep in mind your tires too. I had an el active class on vehicle dynamics and handling at university. Tires are what really make the difference when stopping.

Yep on the tires, they are they only thing touching the ground so in reality the tires are doing the stopping.

I always use duralast golds from AutoZone. The cheapest duralasts don't.... Last. RockAuto has always been hit or miss for me with more misses than hits. At least you get a cool fridge magnet with your purchase.

Always better to buy local. Even if it is a huge chain like Autozone, they still employ people in the area.

I fuggin hate drum brakes. Discs are easy af to replace. Anyways don't go w/ rock auto unless you can afford to wait. I can't count how many times they've sent me the wrong parts (major shit like leaf springs etc not refunded until the return was received.) I ordered some for a mopar and got some for a chevy. The guy recommending duralast golds is ur guy unless planning on selling in the near future.

100% agree, I just did my rear shoes on my truck, always a pain in the ass. I'm not sure why they make the big spring so thick but it takes 2 of us. One to hold the shoes in place and the other with a huge screw driver to pry it over. Drum brakes on my civic are a snap because the assembly is so small.

Powerstop. Have them on all my vehicles.

If all you're doing is wheel cylinders and shoes, then go for rock auto, but their disc brake parts aren't worth it.

I say that after using them on my daily driver, but 2 out of 4 ended up being defective.

You might have better luck at O'Reilly's but I wonder now that those are mostly made in china.

Thanks for the tips. Got a sweet 15% off deal on brakes and rotors.

They don't have Duralast shoes or drums in stock right now. Those will have to wait.

Yeah but they can prob transfer you some from another store or get em in a couple days, rockauto will still take longer. Rockauto is great for project cars but complete shit if you need to get a vehicle back on the road quickly. At least that's been my experience. If they don't have gold just go whatever the standard is, they'll wear out quicker but cost less.

I just did the rears on my 06 Chevy 1500. I just put the cheap stuff on. It seems to last pretty good, not as long as factory but for 1/8th the price it's still cheaper. My only suggestion would be to get the front rotors that have the holes in them because they really do run cooler.
