My four month old has learned that he's fine most of the time, and that if we aren't upset/concerned he doesn't need to be. Heck we got him sleeping through the night at six weeks with that kinda treatment. We talk to him, read him books and established a routine. One of our asian friends was absolutely dumbfounded that I get on the floor and play with him during tummy time.
Sleep training was a bit more complicated but letting him cry for ten minutes or so before responding and being boring did the trick. Sleep time is sleep time.
Be a parent, raise your kid, don't put them in day care to learn bad habits.
