Nothing will actually prevent this. But the obvious things like good food, hydration, a steady sleep routine, outdoor play, and limited screen time probably help.

Study the scheduling. Talk about how they will get mild fever when they get it. But never mention when or if they take any. Just let them connect the dots if they are smart. This is the most important part; creating the smokescreen without actually saying out loud you would never poison your child. No one will ever say you lied.

Positive reinforcement for desired behaviors as well. You can’t stop the tantrums, but you don’t reward them…you don’t give them what they want. You make the alternative seem much more desirable.
