Wife wanted a dog. I was supportive.

Wife said she wanted to get a rescue dog. I was mildly against that, telling her you never really know what you get. Wife said but it's only $100. I said 'whatever' and we went to go look at some puppies.

The puppies in question were said to be half Husky and half Golden Retriever. Awesome. Further, the people adopting the puppies out said we could always return the puppy if there were any issues. More awesome. So we got a puppy.

Puppy was ... weird. Didn't act like a normal puppy (and we both have experience with puppies). Wife decided puppy needed behavior school. So puppy went to school...

And failed.

Puppy school teacher said there's something off about the puppy. Not normal. And we might want to check with the people who adopted the puppy out. Wife didn't want to go back to the people who adopted the puppy out.

So Puppy went to school again (different school).

And failed again. And again, puppy teacher said there's something wrong with the puppy.

So Puppy went to school a third time (different school).

And failed again. And again, puppy teacher said there's something wrong with the puppy.

That's right: Puppy failed the behavioral training three times.

And then ... the puppy snapped at my infant daughter who did nothing provoking. And I drew the line.

We took the puppy back to the adoption people. I asked about the puppy's background. Oddly, they got a little shitty at my questions. So I got angry and got in their faces and demanded answers. (Here in Marin County nobody gets in anyone's faces.)

Oh shit. That got answers.

And what an answer it was: The puppy wasn't half Husky and half Golden. Nope. That was only HALF of the puppy. The other HALF of the puppy was ... you guessed it: nigger dog.

Oh fuck.

So we asked them to take the puppy back. Oh no, they didn't want to do that. Gee, I wonder why? Fuck that. I told them they were taking it back or I'd be seeking an attorney to speak with them about their lies, their written guarantee, and any potential damage to my kids given the puppy's already very questionable behavior (and recommendations from professionals).

They took back the puppy.

And we went out and immediately got a purebred dog (not a nigger dog). And that went so well, we went and got another purebred dog. And it's been awesome.

I'm not saying anyone should not adopt rescue dogs. Certainly there are a lot of good rescue dogs out there. But what I am saying is BE CAREFUL and make sure to get the WHOLE TRUTH behind the dogs you might adopt. These people lie through their fucking teeth.

And if there's any nigger dog in whatever you adopt, may the gods help you.

We fell for that one years ago. It was a "lab mix" that turned out to be equal catahoula and GSD and only 50% lab. He turned out to be a great dog, as long as he didn't get within 50 feet of people and other animals. He was territorial and protective and that turned into just wanting to maul anyone he didn't know. Weird, because he was totally loyal and sweet with us. Also the smartest dog I've met.

This puppy had no behavioral issues and was extremely friendly. We watched a bunch of youtube videos about how to temperament test. So far this puppy's only issue is it's too friendly. I think it will be OK.
