My entire grade was taken to see that movie. My class got in shit because the part where the guy picks up a rifle and stats picking off kikes from his tower bedroom. His girlfriend/wife wakes up and asks "vat zee fuck are you doing" and he says "vakey vakey". My entire class burst out laughing. Belly laughing where it made the person beside us laugh harder. Our teacher was pissed and embarrassed becaude none of the other classes were laughing. I told my mom what happened when I got home, she didn't even react. The teacher called all of our parents that night to bitch about it. I remember my mom taking that call her words were "This is she. Yes. Uh-hunh. SO? Why are you wasting my time with this? I don't care what move it was, you take a bunch of teenagers to a movie, they're probably going to laugh at things you don't find funny. Don't waste my time with this, goodbye". The next day, the teacher started to bitch at all of us, she said she was disappointed in all of us and she was even more disappointed in our parents because none of them cared about the gravity of the situation. One of us started laughing, then we were all laughing again. She left the room to go get the principal to yell at us, which caused more laughing until he gave us 2 weeks worth of detention. Fuck them, that was 30 something years ago and I am still laughing about it typing this out now.

Maybe the ADL sponsored high schools to do this.
They must have. I'd bet the U.S. isn't the only place where kids were taken on a school trip to watch this movie.
I got one of those calls while at lunch. It wasn't about this topic though. The teacher said he said something wildly inappropriate while playing basketball with his friends, one of whom is a nigger. I was thinking he said fucking nigger or nigger faggot...I finally got her to tell me what she heard and was going to send him to the principal for. He said "get the rope" as the nigger was lining up his 3-point or free throw attempt. I laid into her and the call ended with me telling her she should check with the other kid if he was offended before being offended for him. The call ended with her visibly shaken, because I could hear it in her voice.
Got home that night and asked if he was sent to the principal's office. Mama bear chimed in, told her to shush and listen, and laid into him in a fatherly way explaining why he was always getting told to control his volume. It was at that point that it clicked for him and he burst into laughter and said "You're why she was crying!" At which point I joined in the laughter and started talking shit about her. Mama bear finally caught on that something happened and a teacher called me and well...said teacher had a bad day. I then gave mama bear the whole run down...she then started to chastise me and my actions, and at I ended this with "Are you upset on her behalf?" She acknowledged her defeat and let it go.
A nice happy ending :)
My class didn't get to go see that movie. I assume it is specifically because we were/are so cynical that we would have found it hilarious.
They kicked most of us out of school pep rallies because they got tired of us booing. First the tried to put teachers next to us but no one cared and did it anyway so they just made us stay in a classroom when they did rallies (these were during the school day and mandatory for everyone else).
I'll bet we would have been best friends growing up.
