Hard to say; it has been used before to fund some great things, and a lot of bullshit.

Oculus got $2.5 Million from Kickstarter, and promptly used that money to develop and sell out to Facebook, now Meta, for two BILLION!!! leaving all the initial crowdfunders kind of confused, and pissed off they weren't real shareholders. https://www.adroll.com/blog/unrolling-oculus-from-a-kickstarter-campaign-to-a-billion-dollar-company

But at the same point, it can be occasionally used to really help people who got fucked over by the system, and it can really help them.

As always, Caveat Emptor.

The problem i have with crowd funding are the fees.

I don't understand why I would give you capital so you can make money off a product. What do I get? If I get ROI then fine, but it is just a product that I'm paying for anyways, then why did I front you money?

So it's kind of kike bullshit imo.

It depends on the product and what they're asking for it. I've backed a few Kickstarters and I've always received the end product, but I've heard horror stories where people are still waiting for something five years past the funding date.

It's so the place they use can take a cut like 2% of the total which I think should be more like .5% since they got almost no overhead not like they are hiring bank tellers or have actual vault with cash in it and the phone company is the same huge price for almost no overhead.
