For me, it's matching leather when dressing up. I refuse to wear brown leather shoes w/ a black leather belt... or wristband on my watch. I have a brown set of kit including shoes, belt, and watch. Then a black leather kit.

Do you utilize the square knot when tying your shoes? I switched to it about 8 years ago. I've never had a lace pull out since.
