Depending on where you are, start going to estate sales. I see Pioneer, Marantz and similar 1970s component systems at them all the time. Dirt cheap prices. I check "local" sales on this - worth the effort if you're looking for specific items. You can search by zip code/geographic area, set up filters and search criteria.

Shit! I found two items I wanted but they were local pickup only! Thanks for the tip.

It's a great resource. I scour it for old cast iron, Mrs. Duck for old Pyrex cookware and also for kitchen gadgets and misc tool. I inadvertantly threw away an old, stout wide blade putty knife that I used for lawn mower cleaning awhile back. Everything new is cheap Chinesium, so I just kept my eye open at estate sales. Found a good wood handled replacement a couple weeks later for a buck. Great fun too!

I recently bought a Velodyne sub at an Estate sale. Boy it sounded awesome, until the amp board failed. Then, that failure caused the woofer to go bad. Easy come, easy go.
