I'm looking to buy one, used or new, as long as it's as reliable as the one in the office I used to work at. I don't remember what that printer model was though.

Brother is the brand everyone tells me to get. It has the least amount of funny business going on with their products. Price the toner cartridges for the model you want.

Brother. Everything else is crap.

Got a Brother MFC-3760 recently after some research. Happy with it so far. Third party toner cartridges available.

I used to buy HP for B&W and Lexmark for the color, still using a 410dn for color printing big slow but cheap toner and built like a tank.

Most are similar. Ink costs are the biggest difference, honestly. I WOULD avoid HP though, because they pull major fuckery with their ink cartridges. Unless you like the idea of a printer that will lock itself because you got some cheaper ink from a third party.

I'd settle for black and white and get a Brother. You pay out the ass for color capability. Still if you have to have it, Brother or Sharp if you can find one in your price range.

Years ago I would have said Xerox, but between them building units with non serviceable fusers (meaning the printer is dead after ~30k pages) and the absolute insanity of their toner pricing these days, stay away from them at all costs.

Brother, maybe even an older one like the mfc series with a built in fax engine the was assembled during Bush or Clinton Era. The tn210 refills and drums are still available.

The only brand I buy now is brother. I don't have a color LaserJet but my current printer is probably about 10 years old and everything still works without issue.
