My sister is dating this guy who owns a house that is on land owned by a club called the Knights of Pythias. There are specific rules to ownership though. There is a small lake on a pretty good size chunk of land owned by the club. It's a men's only club. The rules are you cannot profit off of the house when you sell it. You can sell it for less than you bought it for, but you cannot sell it for even a dollar more than you paid for it. The dozen or so houses around the lake were built in the late seventies or early '80s. The houses sell between 10-15,000. You don't own the land but you're able to do whatever you wish to the land as if it were yours. When you go to sell one of the houses you're required to sell it to a man. The man is required to join the club. Now if a man owns the home and is married and dies, the ownership of the house can pass to his wife. She's free to keep ownership of it as long as she would like. However, when it comes time to sell she's still bound by the rules of the club. Now all of that being said, wouldn't it be possible to set up a private club with a very similar rule set? Except instead of men, it's for whites only?
