Looking for remote work

I am looking to make some money from home. I have applied for positions on online job sites such as Indeed as well as company sites yet nobody seems to want me. Am I doing something wrong? Am I doomed for not having connections?

I have little work experience and I am still recovering from the traumatic experiences of my last jobs. I need to put my potato brain to use again.

From my understanding there's a lot of ghost jobs out there. Also there's a lot of scam postings. Seems like remote work is the new Nigerian prince. If you get an interview be careful with the information you volunteer. My wife got one, and while we did find limited information on the company there were red flags in the process. We rode it out carefully until they sent a link telling her she'd be reimbursed after she bought a specific computer and network accoutrements.

That's some bullshit. They should only be mailing her a laptop and equipment, that's insane to try and make an employee do it. That had to have been a scam. Did she find work eventually?

Oh it was a total scam. We knew before they told us to buy something from a fishy website, but I wanted to find out the endgame.

Yeah makes sense. It would be fun, just once, to scam or legit scare the scammer. I don't think I'm savvy enough to do it though.

Yeah, that sounds like a scam. There are some companies that want you to use your own equipment but most of them don't due to security requirements and such.
