I've found a number of atheists instead ought to be described as anti-theists. They say a lot of people have been slaughtered over the years in the name of religion and they do have a point. A lot of people have been slaughtered over the last few years by atheists (communists) too though.

for most of human history communism was being suggested by christians. you forget the history of the world before the industrial revolution.

communism isnt complex, and it isnt counter intuitive, and it isnt new, it;s a very ancient idea that has existed long before marx, and most communists throughout history were christians.
A lot of people conflate atheism with the Jewish political movement Communism.
Saying Atheism is the cause for genocide is like saying WWII was a white christian war against christians with no thought given to greedy bankers, warmongers, geo-politics or pretty much any thought process.
Sure, but in a lot of ways the same is true of the various religions; many religious groups are and have been perfectly peaceful. I was simply giving contrast to the argument.
