Ok so this series is set 750 years in the future where a race of aliens has recently conquered the galaxy after years of galactic wars. In an effort to bring the different species of the universe together they introduce football to the rest of the galaxy. The story follows a rookie Quarterback who is drafted into the upper tier football league from a back water system. All teams in the GFL are owned by gangsters who use the diplomatic immunity of the league to smuggle and further their criminal empires. Basically it's like a mash up of star wars, the godfather, and any given Sunday. The universe built in this series is one of my favorites. With everything from devious crime lords to aliens who worship quarter backs and coaches as gods. These characters are some of the most memorable in contemporary literature. Like I said I have zero interest in football in real life, but the scenes on the field are intense and action packed. These books made me laugh, cry, and sit on the edge of my seat. The narration of the first book is a little rough but as the series goes on Mr. Sigler does a great job. Recently Graphic Audio rerecorded these books and did a decent job. 5 novels out right now along with 3 or 4 novellas.
