I have been using Home Assistant nearly as long as this guy but not in the same ways. Maybe one day I will write up all of the little things I have it doing. That will come after I move out of this commie hell-hole since I have given up on automating this house more since I don't want to rip it all out to re-install somewhere else or to leave several thousand dollars of hardware that someone else will probably never use properly behind.

Give me about 8 months and maybe I can start posting cool stuff I do with HA. Even some how-to stuff and how to decide what to automate, when and how.

From the post:

>I’ve been using Home Assistant for about seven years now, starting back when I was living in a small apartment. At the time, my setup was modest: I used the IKEA Smart Hub (when it first launched) to tie together all my apartment’s lights. As I got more comfortable with automations, I also began building custom hardware like temperature and humidity sensors.

I guess your router is running OpenWRT.

I did use OpenWRT for a long time but then pfSense, but now OpenSense.

I also rolled my own on BSD at some point but it's been a while.
