When I still watched hockey, there was zero useful contribution from women except as cheerleaders etc or occasionally as an "interviewer" asking players questions between periods. Hockey players used to be extremely reserved and answer in simple team-oriented quips so there was no need for the person holding the mic to be very insightful about the game.
The times I heard a woman try to do play-by-play, color commentary, or actual game analysis were hilariously bad. Women's hockey is a completely different game than men's. Why anyone would expect them to have real insight about the game was beyond me. 100% pandering. I always muted them.
