Humans have this thing where if some force in the world is large enough they begin to see it as a force of nature, unchangeable and unquestioned and incapable of being guilty of the damage it does, it simply is and must be adapted to. If the right can establish itself with this kind of predictable and unstoppable force, the sheep will fall in line and consider anyone who doesn't just obey as being stupid. This one of the ways sheep are herded, they can be lead with propaganda, but also herded with a stick.
