Some of you may have seen the images in Ukraine of cities whose residential and commercial buildings have been turned to concrete shells. Reportedly 90% of residential structures have been destroyed in some Ukrainian cities. We saw similar images in Syria. All of that is owned by somebody. Armies have to clear any operating space another army could utilize. That means you need a city with no one in it with none of the typical activity of a city occurring at all which could be used to camouflage military activities.
But what does this mean for investment. If you own real estate in a war hit area your property is gone, and you fair worse than someone who rented and sunk their money into other investments. It is helpful to hold an asset that is mobile, and as far as currency goes I don't imaging the Ukrainian currency is worth much. An alternative store of value besides buildings is gold. The one flaw there is you may not have a chance to grab it while fleeing, carrying tens or hundreds of thousands of gold with you (your life savings) when crossing a border can go wrong, and you can get robbed by other refugees. Resources are scarce so there will be some in a stealing mood to begin with. When trying to ransack your shit for food they aren't going to pass up gold. With crypto you can store (encrypted) what you need to restore your crypto in the cloud or even to a forum that no one knows the significance of what you posted. You can move across any border and there is nothing to steal. Your life savings can't be bombed.
All I'm saying is that if you are in an area that might see some war you probably want to move everything into crypto if you need an asset that can't get destroyed by a conflict.
