My impression is that CoinBase wants to be a brokerage, and they are trying to obey whatever big jew mandates are going on. I'm not sure if they have to right now. It's more aspirational. I've seen Coinbase behave in other pozzed ways as well. I'm not really making an argument for or against it. I have used Coinbase, and I have a cold wallet, and I've used other brokers, too.
