It depends how you look at it. You could almost say his country declared war on him and he was simply acknowledging it.

Declares martial law, but never once showed any willingness to discuss and address the protesters concerns. It's like he's running the Chavez playbook by rote. It's generally a defining feature of tyrants that they will always kick and flail right up until the bitter end.

Never once showed willingness?!? Isn't that what the government's open debate stage is for to discuss such concerns in a relaxed manner so both parties can come to terms? Do you really believe that he has the time to go outside and talk to each and every protestor to magically change all the laws to make each and every one of them happy? They should be protesting in front of their direct representatives and should probably spend more time helping their representatives create an ideal constructive solution.

Don't mistake Patriots for Tyrants, tyrants want to control other people against their will and lock them down and tax them into their misery. Patriots want to establish freedom and make a carefully select set of laws that are required to maintain a constructive and happy country. Obviously, there's no way to please everyone, so maybe it makes sense to frequently take turns handing off the power of the government to the other party so people don't build life-long grudges and massive government parties form with zero desire for negotiation. This is why there should always be empathy and a somewhat lax middle ground where defendants can make their case.

Also what the hell is martial law anyway? Are they going to arrest people if they don't follow it? What if people refuse to follow that, is there a martial-martial law where eventually the law enforcement goes home and it turns into complete anarchy/ military dictatorship.
