As someone related to a person that worked (past tense noted here) at a locak bank branch I can say that is 100% correct and understands how local bank branches work. This is key, you are dealing with only the local branch you walk in to not the entire entity of the bank in general, they will do exactly as Freen' is saying and I have been told first hand this is what they do when the run out of cash because someone forgot to order enough for the week etc. Most banks in less prominent areas have just enough cash on hand to make it to the next delivery.
