The deadliest cat in the world is in my front yard under a white rock. I caught her out in the woods and managed to get her home, and in time turned her into a pet. I don't know how old she was, but she was tiny, so I assumed that she was young. Now I don't know, because she didn't grow. She stayed tiny. I named her Tia, because I had to call her something. She was some kind of long-haired cat. At some point, she decided that I wasn't getting enough to eat, so she felt the need to help me out. The first thing she brought me was a snake, some kind of black snake about two feet long. She set it at my feet, walked away, and fell asleep in a shady place. The snake was still alive, so I let it go when Tia wasn't looking. Over the next two and a half years or so that she was here, she seldom let a day go by without bringing me something. She was really concerned about my diet. She brought me snakes, lizards, frogs, rats, mice, birds, insects, and one rabbit. The rabbit was actually bigger than Tia. It was still alive, so I let it "escape" when she wasn't looking. Mostly she brought me squirrels. I figure that she actually brought me hundreds of squirrels over time. I never noticed any fewer squirrels being around, so I don't know where she got them all. Every morning I would look out the front door to see what was for "breakfast." Then one morning, nothing. I finally heard a pitiful sound and found my Tia. I don't know if she was hit by a car or bitten by a dog or what. Her tiny hip was broken and her little bones were too small to be pinned back together. This old Marine bawled like a baby, and I didn't care who witnessed it, as I carried her lifeless body out of the Vet's office. My tiny cat, with the heart of a tiger, was no more.

Yeah same here, never get used to that. At least they lit some candles for me last time.

Death comes for all of us. Remember the good times. She lives on in memory and in the better place she is now. My Cassie our family cat was like a family member. We watched her get very old. She was 19 when we had to take her to the vet. Me and my dad were with her when she was euthanized. It was very sad and I cried a bit though it was the right thing to do for her.

Yeah, Tia was a joy. Her life was just too short. I guess she became like a surrogate mother (in her little cat mind) to me and felt like it was her responsibility to bring me food. She did all the other cat things, head butting, ankle rubbing, lap sitting, purring, etc. I think of her often. Even though she has been gone for years, she will never really go away. I guess I will quit weeping for her again soon, although she will never be forgotten.

We have a bobcat living down the hill from our house. Only saw it once but I know where the den is and leave it alone. Hope it eats these damned ground squirrels around here.
