1 The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool. - Psalms 110:1 (KJV)

This verse is speaking of Jesus, and David is writing that God said this to Jesus, His son. This verse was referred to by Jesus, and shows that it was referring to Him (Matthew 22:41-45). Peter applied this same verse to Jesus when he was talking about Jesus being the son of David (Acts 2:34). Paul also applied this verse to Jesus when he was talking about Jesus putting His enemies under His feet (1 Corinthians 15:25). The writer of Hebrews also refers to this verse as talking about Jesus (Hebrews 1:13). So we know that David is writing this verse and referring to God saying this to Jesus.

The point that Jesus was making in Matthew’s account of this verse was He was asking the Pharisees how He could be the Son of David, when David called Jesus “Lord”? How could your own son be your Lord? The Pharisees could not answer the question, as they would then have had to admit that Jesus was the Son of God, not just the Son of David. This is just another scripture that shows that Jesus truly was the Son of God, and did not have a human father. There are so many scriptures that prove the divinity of Jesus that it is hard for me to understand how people can deny this fact. The only way that you can not believe that Jesus was God in the flesh (John 1:14), is to not believe the Word of God, as it proves it to be an absolute fact. Praise God for sending Jesus to earth to save us!
