If when you replicate the science, you get consistently different responses from that of the science presented, then the only conclusion you can come to is that the science presented was a lie from the start.

If you find that the science requires a level of investment beyond you to replicate it, even on a small scale, you should always question the science presented until such a time as you can indeed confirm it.
