This is true.

Conversly, it is also true that exactly 0 km squared has been permanently polluted and made human inhospitable by radiation therapy where as 100s of thousands of kilometers squared has been made utterly inhospitable to humans by nuclear power.

I am pro nuclear power, but, I cannot wrap my mind around how we prevent nuclear plants go boom making entire sections of the planet utterly inhospitable.

I want to see fusion succeed, but even that has problems. Fusion reactors emit alpha particles which make EVERY MATERIAL known to man that would be used in the casing around the reactor core HIGHLY HIGHLY radioactive.

Nuclear is nice, but nice only within certain parameters.

When arguing points like these, you kind of have to know all of the possible dimensions of the argument.

Lets spend money on research instead of bullshit advocacy

Chernobyl was an intentional misapplication of nuclear fission. The plant's commander ordered basically every safety protocol to be violated to prove himself as capable of recovering from an accident. He ordered the rods to be completely removed from the cooling fluid and then inserted again, causing a spontaneous steam creation which resulted in an explosion. Literally everything was done wrong.
