I looked into getting a home solar system installed. A single battery was $10k with a 10 year warranty.
Knowing that the battery would actually store 80% of the advertised capacity at best and that it would degrade exponentially to the point of something like 50% (30% actual) capacity by the 10 year mark, I noped the hell out of that deal.
Then there are other risks involved..
As much as I believe solar technology has potential if you are in the right region, battery storage needs a lot of improvements for it to be a wise investment.
I'd love to be able to disconnect from the grid and buy a car like the aptera, but is all just basically a proof of concept at this point.
