I was gifted a set of mega blocks for the toddler. A friend of mine noticed and went on a dialogue with more enthusiasm and thought put into it than some documentaries as to the history of legos and how their patents prevented other companies from making compatible blocks.

I had no choice but to proceed with the mega blocks, they are atrocious! but they are our only legos so nothing to get them mixed up with.

On the bright side I get to watch toddler have high levels of fun because he does not know the subtle nuances of toys, he's just happy to finally be old enough to play with the small blocks :D

have any of you guys had a moment where your kid was having a good time while you tried not to be overconcerned about silly nuances that dont actually promote happiness? I mean, this little is just going ham on these Mega Blocks

We picked up quite a few free mega blocks. A 30 gallon totes worth. They’re a bit flimsy and don’t always lock together well, but they’re also not a choking hazard. They’re fine for what they are.

for sure :) cant argue with that logic, and kids certainly dont care!

Mega Blocks are not Legos. But kids don't care about product labels until we teach them that some thing is better than another because of whatever reason.

Teach the kid to like the blocks they have and they will enjoy them as much as any kid with any blocks.

That's true, he loves these things, he's so happy ;D

Sometimes I think about getting Legos, to make my own designs. My cousin 'collects' spawn and xmen figures, but I think he's going through a midlife crisis

When I worked at a pawn shop junkies would come in with shopping carts full of stolen Legos. They got raided by a swat team a week after I left.
