Poured a little concrete today...

Prepped: plastic vapor barrier, rebar 18inches on center, 2×4 forms>> http://picinfinity.co/d/24850236-0eb2-4570-8d33-6721eba746b7.jpg

Pour out the concrete>> http://picinfinity.co/d/fbcf53df-7c17-4ff4-932a-27aa7a89558b.jpg

Screed the concrete to get it flat>> http://picinfinity.co/d/779b3cf4-6fc9-416e-a976-66e17065d5b7.jpg

Then float out the top to push the rocks down and bring the cream up we used a concrete mop>> http://picinfinity.co/d/83a8ddd3-c450-4f53-b8fc-a6acd289039a.jpg

Then wait and let the slab dry a bit. Once it starts getting hard you polish the top with a steel trial to get the slab smooth and to seal up any rough spots. We used a trail machine, which looks like a big fan turned face down with a large handle. Unfortunately I didn't get a pic.

After the concrete is almost dry we take a horse hair broom and brush the top of the slab to put a nice fine broom finish on it (lines)>> http://picinfinity.co/d/ccec2750-000d-4ed2-b40e-8f49635622b8.jpg

That's the slab.

  1. Square feet?
  2. Quoted cost?
  3. Doubled up rebar in one direction?

500sqft

3500

No, I just over lapped the pieces to fit in the forms instead of cutting the extra off.

Vapor barrier is recommended if the ground is especially wet or it is a moist area. Helps keep the slab from cracking.

I think I'm going to get 100 sqft done on the side of my house because I hate mowing the weeds there
