My missus was given the ultimatum (actually works for a government department), she called their bluff. Deadline was November, she hasn't been fired yet. As long as she doesn't mention it, or push it, then the only risk is if someone goes snooping around checking statuses. Ironically, it may be easier to slip under the radar within the government, as they give zero shits about being caught out and fined, since they only pay the fine to themselves anyway and they use your money to do it. A small business is at much greater risk there. In case you're wondering, governments waste an absolute shit ton more money than you think, it's fucking astronomical. Luckily, they are mostly incompetent and only manage to waste money.
For my work, I'm able to work from home. Technically, I'm not allowed to leave home for the purposes of work (or my boss could be fined tens of thousands of dollars). Not everyone's job or employer will allow such an arrangement though.
We are in a good financial position as I moved out of the city several years ago and we brought a property that was well within our means to afford. It is now paid for, so unlike many suburbanites who are working their fingers to the bone to afford to pay the interest on the massive loans they took out to buy oversized houses, and then used the equity in their houses to fund the purchase of boats, SUVs and holidays, we have lived modestly and developed our garden and small farm. A zombie apocalypse was always on the horizon, not sure anyone predicted this one though. Our biggest risks now are basically the government deciding to ship us off to a camp, not a contingency that was very high on my mind 3 years ago. My biggest failure so far has probably been developing local relationships. I'm not particularly a people person, so that's a bit difficult for me. Harder now with the vaxx mandates... I can't participate in organized sports, or community groups (like my permaculture group that I used to go to) or even take my dog to puppy school (yep, they actually announced that we would all need to show our vaxx status, so I just told them that I would not, ever). I do have reasonably good relations with my neighbors though, which is always helpful. My closest neighbor is quite pro-vaxx, but we have discussed the issue and they understand where I come from and do not support the mandates. They're just worried about their VERY elderly parents. Not sure why, they're going to die one day and both of them are into their 90s. Seems to be the way at the moment, everyone has totally forgotten that humans are mortal.
Overall, I really don't know what to tell people who are stuck in such a bind. I've been comparatively lucky. What would I have done if my boss demanded the vaxx? Not sure, it would be bloody hard to get another job being unvaxxed though. If there's any way to move forward without forsaking your values, take it. I feel that the cost of going against your beliefs may be far higher than any hardship that would come to you.
Fuck Dan Andrews!
fucking cock sucking pedophile cunt.
andrews that is.
hello fellow new hong konger.
Boss demanded i force people into masks (cant do it, they cause harm, Healthcare based RTO, we dont have any kind of legal recourse when we get sued, its our job to know theyre inappropriate) and then demanded i get the jab.
Told her if she fires us we will be running the company next year while she goes to jail.... nation wide first aid RTO that is actively advertising 'discounts for vaxxed' (illegal, breeches the equality and privacy acts. You cannot offer a discount based on medical treatment and you cannot ask a client their medical status unless its relevant to the business. it is not an RTOs business if you have the common cold, or massive warts on your cock.
