Secondly, if someone is constantly saying "don't worry nothing will happen to you" or trying to make your life difficult if you don't take it, alarm bells should be ringing, and you should not do that thing!

The fact that the same people during the Hillary Trump election wanted to kill you in the most horrific manner, and was rioting and killing in cold blood becuase of you lr candidate disagreement but not were suddenly concerned for the well being of trump supporters, was the first red light for me.
