ETH is still good, It looks like around now is a fantastic time to buy or do some pair trading. I am not one to catch a falling knife though, maybe wait for the dead cat bounce and then stability.
Also, its total value doesn't fluctuate much, just the trading point. i could sell you a btc for $1M and then the price would be $1M, just not for very long. very little of the actual underlying is in play.
also, for plebs like us (i'm assuming you aren't in the $B class) our current value is what you are thinking.
if you look at a you can see that currently you could take this market down to $38k by selling off $178M of BTC. that is a lot of money for us, but for some it is worth the manipulation, they tank the value, causes plebs to sell because their savings is disappearing and they have weak stomachs, and then they buy back. putting fake numbers in it would be something like "sell $200M of bitcoin bringing the price down to $35k, people follow your lead in selling, buy back $200M worth of bitcoin, but this time you have 120% of the bitcoin you started with, because people cashed out". there are variations, but this is the bird's eye view.
great way for them to siphon more money from the lower classes.
ETH is still good
thanks where would be a good place to buy BC/ETH from?
kinda worried about buying via a place that gets hacked at some point, I just want to hold for 10 years
the easiest in the US is probably coinbase. Alternatively, if you have one set up, you could use a legacy brokerage and buy an ETF temporarily, and then convert for long term at your leisure. Some people do this with the silver/gold etfs when the spot price deviates hugely from physical price with the expectation of it reconverting, but also to "lock in" a price.
with crypto you should not keep it on an exchange long term. you purchase it, and then when you are done trading you move it to your wallet that you control. There are many wallets and you will just have to do research to find what is best for you.
ah, looks like I have some reading to do 🙂
thanks for the pointers
