So here is my survivalist BMX bicycle, I installed a 80cc two stroke engine, photo here :

You buy the complete kit with engine, crown, belt, tank, etc. on the Internet.

Let's go to the details :

Maximum speed : 50~60 km (maybe a little more than that)

Acceleration : Fast

Consumption : 20 to 25 km per liter

Total weight : 30 kg

It has an amazing acceleration if you do not pay attention and accelerate very fast, you can fall to your back.

Max speed is good, although I have not yet reached it, because in the manual it says not to go fast in the first 500 km until you soften the engine, but I believe you can reach about 60 or who knows, almost 70 km per hour.

I don't installed the original tank because I think he is ultra ugly, so I put a small blue gallon of car oil, which matched the color of the bicycle. I drilled a sigh hole in the blue plastic tank, so the gas could go down, or the suction would ruin the plastic tank.

Fuel consumption is disappointing, I do not know if it is spending due to the engine still being softened, or if it is like that anyway, it should do double per liter.

It brakes very well, at least the back brake, which the shoe is longer, the front have a small shoe brake, but I will put a longer one too, so it is not necessary to put a disc brake.

Me and my mother (LOL) we made a bench for the bike, very good.

It weighs a third or a quarter of what a motocross bike weighs, so you can carry it with your own hands wherever you want in hard to reach places. I also put a basket in the front to carry things, super useful.

If you press the clutch with the engine off, you can pedal and use it as a normal bicycle.

The problems :

Sometimes it is complicated to turn it on, the carburator must be well regulated, or if not you will suffer too much to turn it on, its turn on with pedaling, came with a design defect, which makes the belt in the traction crown that comes out of the motor fall.

It vibrates a lot when it is going very fast, I was able to reduce this with rubber, I will try to reduce further.

One ugly thing is too many wires and cables.

As the engine is a two stroke, it has high performance, but it is noisy, and people stare at you, and you still need to add two stroke oil and mix it with the fuel shaking, otherwise you will destroy your engine, the problem is that two stroke oil is expensive.

The hoses tend to leak fuel, drips carbonization of the exhaust. You have to leave a piece of paper or something else under the exhaust so you don't get the floor dirty the other day.

I had to change the screws that hold the motor to the bike frame, the screws that come with the kit are terrible, I bought other screws that are stronger and better.

Another thing : I recommend you do this on a normal size bicycle, so you will not need to cut or weld anything. For God's sake, if you do not have experience, do not buy a kit of these to try to assemble in a BMX, because it was necessary to cut the superior bar of the frame, cut and weld the top rear wheel support, we weld another iron as top rear support. Me and my friend took almost a month to finish it.

I really liked it and I should have bought it earlier, now, God willing, I want to buy an open front helmet and goggles, because when you are running with it on a street that has dust or dirt, it goes in your eyes.

2 stroke, no joke, all throttle, and no joke. Looks like a lot of fun. Nice work.

Do you burn you leg hair on the motor head?

No, but if you're not careful and you touch your leg in the engine or exhaust, you can burn your leg or pants.

Nice work, I mean, it takes skills to put all of it together

but it is not survivalist.... it will not run if you do not have "good gasoline" and to build it you need tools and parts that are unavailable if civilization collapses even mildely.

If something goes wrong we go back at stone age

You don't understand what I said. Its obvious that create something like this in a pos apocalyptic world will be very hard, but im saying that you can make one right now, and maybe it can be useful to you, and, even if this was not the case, still there will be cars out there, you can get gas from them, the problem is the two stroke oil, maybe mix diesel or another oil with gas. And the tools, you can keep them with you, or make them, and even if a cataclysm happened, there are millions of tools already produced out there, the problem is no energy.

And you saw in the text, where it says that it is possible to tighten the clutch, and pedal the bike like a normal bike without using the engine and fuel ?
