So amazingly enough after just fixing the DW a few days ago it is not working again. Totally different problem. Now it fills with water and the heating element comes on but then it just buzzes and doesn't start the wash cycle. I have determined the problem and I think I have it fixed except ONE thing I found in there that I cannot find any place to put it back. I don't know if it is part of the DW or is it just some random piece of rubber off of a kids toy or a cooking utensil or something? Can anyone identify this part? It is soft rubber. about an inch long with a slight curve, about a half inch tall. There are nubs on one edge and corresponding holes on the other.

Edit: I put it back together and tried to run it without this part and I did fix the problem, it runs now. But now there is water pouring out of the bottom of the pump. This piece has to go in there somewhere.

I can't find anywhere for it to go though.

Model number and brand for the DW would help. That looks like its part of a mounting bracket or something.

Also, make sure to triple check the seals for the sump if it's leaking out the bottom. Is it coming directly out of the pump somewhere or just near it?

I replied to your message but for others sake I'll reply here as well, I think I munched the O ring when I put it back together. I took it apart, still cant find a place to put it and the O ring looked funny. I put it back together real careful like and it's working and not leaking. I believe my problem is solved.

For everyone's ref, pulling this out of the DM's.

>Sounds like the sump o-ring was smashed when you put it back on and I almost feel like whatever the F that little black thing was might have been clogging the drain. I have a feeling its part of the mounting bracket for the sump/motor or something to decrease vibration with how it looks and how it's shaped.

I ran a full load,, it's great. So I think that my first fix a few days ago got the water flowing a lot better than it has been and that then flushed a piece of glass and that black rubber thing into the impeller or the wash pump. Got that all cleaned out. Put it together the second time, being much more careful with the O ring, and it's working great. It even sounds different now. Like it's sprayers are supercharged. And NO leaks!! Thanks for the input!
