Edit: Just noticed the missing word in the title. Sadly too late. Editing it is only possible for the first five minutes after post.

Internet browsers tend to delete older history, making it hard to find sites seen a long time ago without knowing their name or title.

For Chromium-based desktop browsers, Google has randomly deleted files with and without warning.

And Firefox tends to randomly delete history and downloads older than ~3 months.

For Chrome, there is an add-on, History Trends Unlimited, whuch allows exporting the history file.

For Firefox, there once was Norwell History Tools, but then Firefox Quantum came and rendered most add-ons ever released ineffective.

The Firefox history is stored in places.sqlite. Better back up that file regularly. (I hope that the MozLZ4 cancer will not take over that one as well, like it did with session store files.)

If I forgot to mention any point, please comment it.
