During my school time, I have lost around three note books (as far as I can remember), which was aggravating.

Although using a video camera/mobile phone is not close to scanner resolution, it is much, much faster.

Make sure there is good lighting to ensure good readability, avoid noise and reduce motion blur (due to lower exposure time per video frame).

Just point the video camera / mobile phone at the paper note book, preferrably mounted to a tripod, hit record and turn the pages. Make sure there is at least one moment in the video where your hand does not cover content on the pages.

If you record in 4K (2160p), each still frame acts as a solid 8.3 Megapixel photo with maybe a few video compression artefacts (compared to 3.7 Megapixels at 1440p, 2.1 Megapixels at 1080p and 1.3 Megapixels at 720p). If you happen to own an 8K video capable device, 33.2 Megapixels.

It would have taken me less than two minutes to back up a note book I lost because I used it as mouse pad for that defective school computer mouse.
