Someone just passed to me this little device. Its just a 10:1 transformer, a full bridge rectifier, and this huge cap. This supply is also unregulated. I guess I could use it for solenoids or brushed DC motors. I found it interesting. Maybe I could add a regulation section, like a bank of ballasted LDOs attached to a heat sink, and get a simple 'lab' supply.
