>Spain's grid operator admitted today that solar power could be to blame for Monday's blackout chaos, as mystery continues to surround what caused the historic power outage across the Iberian Peninsula. Red Eléctrica's System Operations Chief Eduardo Prieto told a news briefing the electricity system was hit by a dramatic power generation loss in southwestern Spain, that caused instability in the system that led to its disconnection from the French grid. He said it was quite possible that the affected generation was solar, but it was to early to say for sure. Prieto said the system was now stable and working normally. The partly state-owned operator's preliminary assessment ruled out cyberattack as the cause of the outage, he added - but Spain's top criminal court said it was investigating the possibility of 'an act of computer sabotage on critical infrastructure'.

Could be cheap companies hiring the cheapest programmers to develope their routing of the power also or the conversion of it to AC but like many countries spain could use DC power. I'm no the mind computers should not run important shit like gas pumps, cash registers that need an internet connection because of lack of trust by state or the companies main offices for fear of theft or not paying taxes, to order food since the old phone company had generators so in emergencies no internet your store could order food, gas, or anything by faxing an order now you can't call since you might like my old town no towers use the internet for your smart phone power out then you can't call anyone police ambulance nothing, there could be power across town but you are fucked in the outtage area since the internet green boxes need power even if you have a home generator. This country is fucked if brownout hit a large area everything will just stop, can't buy anything unless the store collects cash and writes down the sales to imput manually later using a calculator to do the tax for beer or cigarette sales, did that last year when I bought my coffee and 1/2 the town was without power for a few hours from an idiot hitting a power pole then driving away and it took them like an hour to even get to the pole then they had to call in from another location no internet or cell towers for a new light pole to be delivered then installed then they attached the 2 poles together and fixed the lines and left it like that.
