On April 7, 2021, • Robert Lesslie, • Barbara Lesslie, • Adah Lesslie, • Noah Lesslie, • James Lewis, and • Robert Shook were fatally shot. Phillip Adams, a former professional football player who lived near the Lesslie home, broke in and killed Robert and Barbara, along with their 9-year-old granddaughter Adah, their 5-year-old grandson Noah, and two air conditioning repairmen who happened to be working at the residence. Phillip later took his own life, leaving his motivations a mystery. According to his father, "I can say he's a good kid. I think the football messed him up."
James Lewis was a single father, with a daughter and two sons. Robert Shook was married and also had a daughter and two sons. The Lesslies left behind four children and six living grandchildren. After their passing, their son – Adah and Noah's father – took over Robert's medical practice, where he had been a beloved doctor.
