How come I can't see landmass over the horizon then? In fact, if you go to an island far rnough into the ocean, you won't see anything but water wherever you look.

Atmosphere gets in the way. Even if the Earth was flat there'd be a max distance you could see. It seems like the limit for how far you can see a mountain is about 100-150 miles.

If that were the case, landmasses would appear to become blurry as you get farther from them, but they appear to "sink" into the water instead.

Also, like it is mentioned in the pic, water will take the shape of its container. So then, what shape does water take when it has no container, and when not subjected to any forces, as if it were suspended mid air or a vaccum?
